Sub-Divisional forest officer suspiciously died after getting inside his body while spraying herbicide

A strange incident has been reported in which an on-duty forest officer fell ill due to the dangerous poison entering his body after spraying herbicides on the plants and died due to ineffective treatment.

Yogesh Nayka, Sub Division Forest Officer of Dandeli Taluk, Kulagi Branch, has died.

It is said that the death of an officer who had served in the forest department for the last 13 years in Dandeli of Uttara Kannada district and had a lot of experience in the method of weedicide spraying has led to many doubts.

Yogesh Nayka, a resident of Bada village in Kumta taluk of Uttara Kannada district, was on duty in Virnoli zone of Kulagi branch of Haliyala division.

It is said that on June 27, Yogesh along with his colleagues sprayed poisonous insecticide to destroy the weeds of the teak trees and kill the insects inside the soil.

Yogesh Nayka is said to have consumed food and water without washing his hands after spraying pesticides. The next day, Yogesh Nayka was seriously ill. Yogesh Nayka was admitted to SDM Hospital in Dharwad as his illness worsened.

When the treatment was done, the kidneys, liver and lungs were already damaged. He was admitted to a private hospital in Hubli for further treatment. By this time, Yogesh Naik had reached a coma. Even there he was shifted to KIM's in Hubballi as he did not respond to treatment. He died in the hospital after the treatment failed. My wife and two-and-a-half-year-old son have left me. Yogesh Nayka's family members were in tears.

The dead body of Yogesh Nayka, who died yesterday evening, was brought from Hubli to the premises of the Deputy Conservator of Forests in Haliyala at 7 am today.

Yogesh Nayka, Deputy Zonal Forest Officer, Kulagi Forest Branch, Dandeli taluk, was paid his last respects at the office premises of the Deputy Conservator of Forests in Haliyala town.
